Importance of Life Insurance for Moms

In December of 2022, Quility sponsored a 30-day poll through Baby Chick: the online resource for pregnancy through motherhood.

Recognizing that Baby Chick’s audience is primarily women with children (or women planning on having children), we knew we could gain valuable insights by asking this mama-demo one simple question: Have you thought about life insurance for your family?

We received 2,366 responses and here are the results.

We’re here to not only help you through getting life insurance, but to make the process fast and easy as well. After all, Quility was co-founded by a busy mom who knows the need for simplicity.
So, what’s keeping moms from getting life insurance?

Less than a quarter of respondents said they had already protected their loved ones with life insurance. To learn more about the 78% who are uninsured and on the fence, let’s take a look at the questions and concerns holding them back.

There are too many questions to even know where to start

We get it. Life insurance can feel like a confusing and scary topic. Many of us have antiquated ideas about how it’s bought and sold and most of us aren’t overly excited about thinking through the worst-case scenario.

To calm the nerves and get acquainted with the basics, our Life Insurance 101 guide is a great place to start. It breaks down topics like riders and beneficiaries, but it begins with the most basic question of all: What is life insurance?

You’re really sure I need this?

We really are. You insure your home and car—two important items that still pale in comparison to your value as a mom. In the event of the unthinkable, consider all the ways you support your family and all they would need in your absence.

Whether you bring home bi-weekly paychecks or not, you likely provide everything from schedule coordination and meal prep to transportation and housekeeping.

Having life insurance could mean your children have access to additional mental health care, activities that bring them joy in the wake of great loss and savings for higher education.

There are so many types, how do I choose?

Oof. Analysis paralysis can feel so real. Remember though, we’re here to help you get the perfect policy for you (and we’ll be here as your life and coverage needs change as well).

For a majority of moms, term life insurance will be the perfect fit. This type of policy offers affordable coverage, customizable terms (10, 15, 20 or 30 years), the option of riders (also referred to as “add-ons”) and up to $1 million in coverage.
